Department of Energy Employees Occupational Injury Compensation

The federal government has established a program to provide compensation to workers at the Department of Energy facilities. Workers who have suffered from a cancer, beryllium disease or chronic silicosis are eligible for a lump sum payment of $150,000.00 and sometimes payment of medical expenses associated with that disease. The worker’s surviving spouse or other relative is also eligible to file for compensation if the worker has passed away.

This federal program also awards workers and their families with federal workers’ compensation benefits for those individuals who may not have been diagnosed with a cancer, but who have a work related illness, such as Parkinson’s disease, peripheral neuropathy, asbestosis, COPD, bronchitis or other lung disease.
